World Nature Conservation Day reminds us that protecting and restoring natural resources is not optional; it is a duty. CFlo’s purpose is to conserve resources and help build waste free cities. That commitment guides everything we do, including how we manage our own carbon footprint. Today CFlo is a net-zero company.
Building heavy machines costs carbon. Last year our factories and offices released 234 tonnes of greenhouse gases. To erase that load we turned to trees back in 2010. A single tree can sequester roughly ten to forty kilograms of carbon dioxide each year, depending on species, age, size, and climate. Peepal and Sal sit near the high end of that span. For planning we use a practical average of twenty kilograms per tree. At that rate we would need about eleven thousand seven hundred trees to cancel our annual footprint, while the lower ten-kilogram rate would require roughly twenty-three thousand four hundred trees.
We track our emission footprints through an annual ESG audit and publish the results in our sustainability report. To date we have planted 12,500 trees along the green verges of the New Kolkata Development Authority. Even at the cautious twenty-kilogram rate those trees absorb about 250 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, enough to wipe our footprint and leave a buffer of sixteen tonnes. Because the plantation includes several high-uptake species, the real buffer is likely higher.
Trees do not live forever. Mortality in young plantations runs two to five percent a year, so we will plant a couple of thousand new saplings each year. Starting this year, we have collaborated with one of our implementation partners and will top up our forest through their Community Barren Land Restoration initiative. Every new tree is geo tagged, allowing us to track survival and growth. This steady replacement and monitoring more than covers natural losses and keeps the buffer intact.
If our emissions rise we will stay ahead of the curve by planting the additional trees we need. For now the forest we manage already carries the load, so every product that leaves our gate is on the right side of the carbon ledger. When you buy from CFlo you are buying clean and responsibly, confident that the carbon cost of your machine has already been paid back to the planet.
